On the Friday, Brisbane comes to Yorkshire with Hatchie, who release their debut album Keepsake the following week and Confidence Man, who bring their turbo-charged-all-guns-blazing live show to the Brudenell.
On the Saturday doors open at midday, with performances from audiobooks returning after their debut live show at last year’s Heavenly Weekender in Hebden Bridge, Baxter Dury performing a very special solo set, Boy Azooga after sharpening their already razor-edged skills at SXSW earlier in the year, Gwenno performing songs from last year's critically acclaimed Cornish language LP Le Kov, H. Hawkline appearing for the first time in a while after touring and collaborating with Aldous Harding, Stealing Sheep playing tracks from their brand new album Big Wows and friends of The Orielles and new Heavenly favourites Working Men's Club, whose sold out debut single is already fetching £40 on Discogs.
“Expect a good time, simple as that,” says Heavenly Recordings founder Jeff Barrett. “Our parties are all about avoiding the squares. We supply the music, you come along with your head on straight and get involved. Dance like a loon, make new friends, and take something away with you that you’ll keep forever. Whether that be a boy or a girl or just the memory of the best night out you have ever had, anything is possible"
First opened as a wooden clubhouse in 1913 and frequently shortlisted as one of NME’s best small venues in Britain, The Brudenell Social Club has hosted numerous legendry gigs in recent years – often by artists whose status outweighs the venue’s capacity - and whose independent spirit perfectly reflects that of Heavenly.
Previous Heavenly Recordings weekenders have taken place at the much-loved Trades Club (capacity: 200) in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire beginning in 2015 with the label’s 25th birthday celebration and then again in 2017 and 2018, where the small but perfectly-formed venue saw shows from the likes of Temples, Jimi Goodwin, Mark Lanegan, audiobooks, The Orielles, Boy Azooga and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (the latter two days after selling out the five thousand capacity Brixton Academy).
Heavenly Recordings has been believing in magic since 1990.
