TC & The Groove Family
+ Plantfood + more tbc
TC & The Groove Family are a 10-piece collective whose music celebrates the coming together of cultures and the unity that music can provide for everyone. Driven by drummer Tim Cook, their live shows are powerful and dynamic, exploring grooves and genres from the UK and around the world, including afrobeat, breakbeat, jungle, jazz and highlife. The band have played alongside afro-fusion legends K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade and London jazzers Yussef Dayes, Pyjaen and Cykada at shows in Sheffield, Bristol, Leeds< Manchester and London. In 2021, they performed as part of We Out Here’s online festival showcase, before blowing the roof off the Chai Wallah stage at Shambino in August.
Singles ‘Let’s Start’ and ‘Temple’ received airplay from BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, Craig Charles/Gilles Peterson/Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 and Colin Curtis on Worldwide FM. Having spent successive lockdowns writing new music, the band released their debut album "First Home" on Bristol label Worm Discs in summer 2022 (produced by Tom Excell of Nubiyan Twist/ONIPA fame). In autumn 2023, they dropped the "First Home - Remixes" EP to great acclaim and will be playing some much loved classics from previous releases alongside a bag full of new tunes. With longtime MC Franz Von on the mic, you know this party will be going off big time!
Main support act is Leeds alt-jazz kings Plantfood. After are completing a fantastic 12 month period from November 2022 to autumn 2023, the band's profile moved up hugely. That year saw them launch their debut EP and do their first UK tour (both in 2022), drop a sick jazz & bass single in spring 2023, play packed hometown gigs at both Belgrave Music Hall and Brudenell Social Club, and in summer 2023, they ripped it up at some of the biggest and best music festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Beat Herder, EskFest, Leeds Jazz Festival, Tonna Tropical Garden Party, We Out Here). All this as they slowly prepare their long awaited debut album for worldwide release later this year. They too are warming up for their summer festival program so come down and check out the new material they'll be showcasing.
As it's an end of term party, more acts are being added to make this a really special "DJ Lubi Presents" session. Watch this space.
