Northern Monk Takeover

Northern Monk Brew Co. have announced a collaboration with celebrated independent Leeds label, Hide & Seek Records. After locking themselves away in Northern Monk’s stunning Holbeck based brewery at the end of the summer, the reasons to be excited for what came out of the brewery that day are two-fold. The first being Industrial North, the beer, a bottled dark ale made with fresh New Zealand hops. The second is Northern Industry, the compilation, dutifully put together by Dan O’Dell & Sam Airey of Hide & Seek Records, the Industrial North compilation is 11 mostly new or unheard tracks by some of the best DIY and independent bands in the North, including: Post War Glamour Girls, Battle Lines, Big Love & Then Thickens.

Each visually beautiful bottle of this stunning beer will come with a link to download the entire Hide & Seek records compilation for free. The bottles will be available in the Northern Monk Refectory & Tap Room, as well as in Leeds’ good beer shops.

This news was also followed with the announcement of an Industrial North Launch Party at Leeds’ famed Brudenell Social Club. Taking place on Saturday November 21^st, Hide & Seek and Northern Monk will be hosting a free entry show, with the line up including Big Love & more to be announced. Northern Monk will also be taking over the Brudenell Social Club’s  taps (and fridges) for the night with some of their finest beers and new canned range!

Industrial North is a New Zealand-hopped Cascadian Dark Ale. Dark in colour but hopped like an IPA. We used fresh 2015 NZ hops not long on these shores to make the beer sing as loud as possible. Varieties used include NZ Cascade, Motueka, Waimea and Kohatu. The beer is almost black and silkly smooth with dark chocolate character, followed by a big, juicy hop burst with floral hints, soft flesh fruit and grape.“

The songs were chosen to complement each other well and they all share varying shades of darkness, the result is a tracklisting that makes a perfect listening accompaniment to the blackened beer."
